Carom brief instructions

Carom is one of the classic disciplines and has been played for more than 100 years. Carom, these are tables without holes, i.e. only with a band on the outside, differ in many different variants. The most common are listed here.

Partie libre

The basic form of billiards is the free game. The game is played with three balls, two white and one red. Each player has a white ball as his cue ball. To make it easier for the audience to follow the party, a white, a yellow and a red ball is often used today. The goal with the cue ball is to hit the red ball and the opponent's ball in one shot. The order doesn't matter. If this succeeds, one speaks of a collision. You can crash all over the billiard table with the exception of the corner fields. If the two balls to be hit are in a corner field, a collision may be made. Then the corner field must be left again. Only in the free game is that the starting position has to be built up again when the ball is pressed. The player who has successfully completed a collision is allowed to continue playing.

Three cushion

In this discipline, the cue ball must touch at least three cushion before the opposing ball or the red ball is touched. This can be done by first touching the cushion, ball, ball or ball, cushion, ball. If this does not happen, there is an error. As long as no mistake is made, the player who is playing billiards may continue to play. With three cushion, the playing area is free of any restrictive markings. If the playing band is pressed against a board, the player may not play directly over this board. If two balls are pressed, the starting position can be built up. However, the player can also play the opening board or play the ball that is not lying down first. Playing the ball lying down by head butting is also permitted, provided that the ball lying down is not moved. As long as a player does not make a mistake, he is allowed to continue playing.

One cushion

In this discipline, the cue ball must touch at least one cushion before the opposing ball or the red ball is touched. This can be done by first touching the cushion, ball, ball or ball, cushion, ball. If this does not happen, there is an error. As long as no mistake is made, the player who is playing billiards may continue to play. With the binding, the playing area is free of any restrictive markings.

Cadre

In all cadre disciplines, billiards are divided into fields with fine chalk lines. These fields are called cadre and form the restricted areas. With cadre 47/2 and 47/1, the playing area is divided into nine fields. Six of the fields are square, three fields are rectangular. In small tournament billiards, the discipline is called 35/2. The number in front of the slash shows the distance between the lines and the boards, the number behind it shows the pile-ups allowed in a field. With the large cadre, the 71/2, the playing area is divided into six fields, two rectangles and four squares. On the small tournament billiards is the designation 52/2. In the case of a cadre with two kicks, the player does not have the right to perform two carom positions one after the other in the same cadre field during the course of a shot without at least the opposing ball or the red ball being pushed out of the second kicks.
